| 自我描述 Sicong Bian, born in Huzhou, China, is one of very few best students in Shanghai Conservatory who received admission for double degree. He is now the fourth year student both in Piano and Orchestral Conducting. He studied piano since 5 and performed his piano recital at age 12. Before entering Shanghai Conservatory, he studied in Hangzhou Arts High School which is the best music school in Zhejiang province. In Shanghai Conservatory, he studied orchestral conducting with Prof. Mei Zhang and Renchang Fu. His current teacher is Prof. Christopher Chen from US. Besides his conducting, his second major piano was with Prof. Dachu You and is currently with Prof. Yanxin Chen. During his four year study in the school, he has performed piano recitals with many repertoire from Baroque period to Contemporary work. After these recitals, he has gained a reputation in the school as a promising young pianist. As an active conductor in China, he has been an assistant conductor for Jiangsu Symphony Orchestra where Maestro Christopher Chen was the Music Director. As a guest conductor, he has conducted Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra in China and San Francisco Symphony in US. In 2006, he was one of 5 winners selected from the whole country for the Master Class of Maestro Charles Dutoit and Michael Tilson Thomas with San Francisco Symphony. In 2008, he was selected by Maestro Jorma Panula to the Master Class with Xiameng Symphony Orchestra. In the same year, he was invited to guest conduct Xiameng Symphony Orchestra where Xiaoying Zheng was the Music Director. In 2009, he is going to conduct Taipei Philharmonic Orchestra and Baltimore Chamber Orchestra. |
